Budget Mid Year Review
Question to the Lord Mayor
Question to Council Chambers, delivered by Councillor Seal Chong Wah on 3rd March 2026
My question is to the Lord Mayor.
Brisbane’s westside isn’t included in this LNP Council’s Metro network expansion business case, that will take us out till at least 2032, and with this council’s timelines there is little chance of a western Metro link being constructed until at least 2038.
Council data shows that over the last year, peak hour traffic on Coronation Drive averaged about 20kph.
Musgrave and Waterworks Road didn’t do much better, at just 25kph.
Moggill Road, from Indooroopilly to Coronation Drive in Toowong, averages 20kph in the morning and just 17kph in the evening.
Lord Mayor, through the chair, why wasn't Brisbane's west considered for a Metro line in the current business case?
