Rosalie Pedestrian Crossing Vote Results
From the 16th of May, to the 7th of June, I ran a community vote on whether I should fund a pedestrian crossing in Rosalie Village. Thank you to everybody who took part!
For reference, volunteers with my office dropped letters in roughly 2300 letterboxes in the Rosalie area. Here is a copy of the letters that residents received.

380 people have voted. 311 votes were from within the distribution area. Some of the remainder are the votes of local businesses where the owner used their personal address, so I've shown the results for all votes as well.
The core question of this vote was:
"Do you support this new pedestrian crossing for Rosalie? Yes/No"
Here are the results for all of the votes:

In both cases, this is an overwhelming vote for a pedestrian crossing.

More than half of votes are for the strongest possible yes.
Vote Analysis
Every 'yes' voter was asked what their priorities were for voting yes. Of those 'yes' voters, almost every one prioritised safety. Lots of people also prioritised walking instead of driving, which might show that more people will walk around and through the village when the pedestrian crossing is built.

Meanwhile, every 'no' voter was asked why they oppose the crossing. There's a really interesting difference between all votes, and votes in the distribution area.

Based on this feedback, my office and I will be looking into potential changes to the street parking within the village area. With a pedestrian crossing, it will be easier for everybody to cross Baroona Road, so parking bays slightly further from storefronts could still provide easy access to the businesses.
I will need to discuss the details with the Council's 'Transport Assets and Operations' (TAO) team to see what's possible.
After the Council budget (Monday 29/06/26) I will upload details about 'what happens next', and anything else that arises.
