Barrambin (aka Victoria Park) holds deep cultural and spiritual significance to the First Nations Yuggera and Turrbal peoples. This area was a campground and meeting place for corroborees, dancing, hunting and gathering, and a place for First Nations people from neighbouring regions to visit and stay.
Earlier this year, we had the incredible honour of co-hosting a First Nations Cultural Walking Tour of Barrambin with Historian Professor Ray Kerkhove, Brett Leavy and other First Nations elders.
Join us, on December 6th, to expand on this essential truth telling as we collectively build our understanding of First Nations culture and heritage. Connecting past with present to inspire a shared future of Barrambin, with First Nations justice at the heart.
This event comes as the State government begins months of investigative drilling on this sacred land for the proposed Olympic Stadium and National Aquatic Centre.
Following the First Nations Yarn, we are inviting everyone to join together in a creative collective action to send a powerful message to the International Olympic Committee, the State Government and the Brisbane City Council, to save the largest remaining inner-city greenspace.
We hope that you can join us
